A Testimony

A testimony is worth sharing! My testimony of Christ is so dear to me for many reasons and I love sharing it. He died for ME! Me. Someone who isn't always the best and someone who doesn't always do the right thing. But that is everyone. He died for everyone. Even the people we don't know. The homeless, the poor, the needy, the righteous and the unrighteous. If He didn't die for me I wouldn't be able to return to live with my Heavenly Father again. I am so thankful that He did that for me. He only did that beloved act because He loves me so much, more than I can comprehend. Also I KNOW that He lives! I know it with every fiber of my being! And because He lives I can live again. Christ is so perfect and it is exactly that reason that only He could do that nameless act that He performed for everyone. When I see Him again and I know I will. I will fall to my knees with tears streaming down my face in nameless gratitude for Him. He suffered everything I have suffered r

Happiness

"Remember, happiness doesn't depend on who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think."- Dale Carnegie “What we love determines what we seek. What we seek determines what we think and do. What we think and do determines who we are — and who we will become.”-Dieter F. Uchtdorf What will you seek after?  Will you seek after the worldly things this season or will you seek after Christ? It is your choice and your choice alone but remember the choices you make DO affect others.

Christmas time!!!!!

It is getting closer and closer! Christmas time!!!!!!!!! I am so excited! I love the season of Christmas! I heard a story recently about Santa Claus and the similarities he has with Christ. Here I will share He wears red. ( Isaiah 63:2 ) His hair is white. ( Revelation 1:14 ) He comes in the Night. ( 1 Thessalonians 5:2 ) He loves little children. ( Matthew 19:14 ) He knows we are good. ( 1 Timothy 2:3,4 ) And He brings gifts. ( James 1:17 ) Symbols Wreath Eternal love, no beginning, no end. Love comes full circle Candle The light of Christ, our own inner light Gifts Giving, sharing, thinking of others Bow Tied in the bonds of brotherly love Bell Rings to bring lost sheep home Tree The evergreen of everlasting life, pointing heavenward Red The Savior's sacrifice for all Candy Cane Shepherd's crook for bringing lambs back to the fold Star The Bethlehem star, a sign of prophecy, the light of the world Santa Claus The spirit of Christmas, g

Season of Christ

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Christmas time. It is such a happy season and a fun time too. Since I am in Utah I have had the opportunity to play in the snow! I really have never done that before (I know it's sad isn't it lol). But lets not forget the most important thing about this time though.... Christ. I wrote a poem and I called it Christmas Christmas To God the most High, Is what the angel's sang. Christ our Savior was born, In a manger, For there was no crib to lie his sweet head. We now thank thee this Christmas season, For this is the season of Christ. The giving to others As Christ gave to us. What a gift to give We now have, To share His gospel Through all the world. The light of Christ To everyone's home. It's a nameless act That we willingly do. Lets all share the message of Christ this season. Share it with a beloved friend or family member, or even someone you feel impressed to share it with. Everyone needs to hear good

Happy Thanksgiving

Sorry I haven't been able to post much anymore I have been transferred to a new area where I don't have a computer accessible to me to post on my blog. But a little advice I found recently; Life isn't about finding yourself- life is about creating yourself. -George Bernard Shaw Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up. - Jesse Jackson Thanksgiving is for giving thanks to the things we have that are important to us like our family, Christ, the Gospel, etc. So during this season lets give thanks for those things and the tender mercies that happen in our life everyday. Just as Christmas is about Christ so should Thanksgiving because without Christ we would have nothing. So lets create ourselves a beautiful season and help others up :)

A month of Thanksgiving

What are you thankful for this season?  1 Thessalonians 5:18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. My God, I have never thanked You for my thorns. I have thanked You a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear; teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed closer to You along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears, the colors of Your rainbow look much more brilliant. Lets be thankful for all that happens to us. The sad and the happy times. We can learn and we grow from it all.

Christ's Parables part 2

Parable of the Sower Matthew 13:3-9 , 18-23 ; Mark 4:3-9 , 14-20 ; Luke 8:4-8 , 11-15 sow- to plant seeds wayside- hard ground that has been walked on (such as a path or road) devoured- ate withered away- died These are all interpretations that I have come up with from the scriptures or my own: The seed means- the word of God wayside means- those that hear but Satan comes and takes the belief away stony places means- those that hear but don't have a place to put forth their roots and then fall into temptation among thorns means- those that hear but are choked by the things of the world good ground means- those that hear and take it to heart and are living the word of God So choose your soil. Are you going to be the wayside or the road? Or the rocks? Or the thorns? Or will you choose to be the good ground and plant the word of God into your heart and let it grow? None of the soils in the parable had to stay in the condition it was in. We choose what soil we ar

I have been called

When I opened up my mission call this is what I read: You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That means so much to me! "Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." ( 3 Nephi 5:13 ) I have left my family for a short time, so others may be with their families for eternity. If you are struggling, feeling lost, not complete, or anything Christ can help! Let Him help you! If you have any questions feel free to ask me, other missionaries in your area or look on mormon.org . We want to help! We love you and we want you too know Christ loves you!  CALLED TO SERVE Called to serve Him, heavenly King of glory, Chosen e'er to witness for his name, Far and wide we tell the  Father's story, Far and wide his love proclaim. Called to know the richness of his blessing, Sons and  Daughters, Childre

Christ's Parables Part 1

Ok I have decided I want to talk about or study Christ's Parables. This is going to be a post with many parts as you might say. So first I asked myself what does parable mean? ANSWER: The word parable comes from the Greek paraballo , which means "to set beside" or "to compare." A parable, therefore, is a simple story in which the narrator compares the common experiences of his listeners to some divine truth. Ok so why did the Savior use Parables?  So his disciples came and asked him this same question. " He  answered  and  said  unto  them,  Because  it  is  given  unto  you  to  know  the  mysteries  of  the  kingdom  of   heaven,  but  to  them  it  is  not  given." ( Matthew 13:10-11 ) The Master Teacher's parables show both the justice and mercy of God at work among those who hear them. "Two men may hear the same words," wrote Elder James E. Talmage (1862-1933). "One of them listens in indolence and indifference, the ot

The Challenge the "Book of Mormon" makes to the world

I have a strong testimony that the Book Of Mormon is true! I love it and I read it everyday. I constantly pray to have a reassurance that it is true. I know with all of my heart, might, mind and soul that it is TRUE! The reason I pray constantly to know that it is true is to have an unwavering testimony of it. I know Joseph Smith translated it for the world to read. I don't want to hide the principles and teachings it has of Jesus Christ in it from the world. I know it is ANOTHER Testament of Jesus Christ that HE LIVES! And that He loves ALL nations kindred, tongue and people. If our Heavenly Father wants to give us more scriptures to know that He and His son live how dare we say they can't! This wonderful book does NOT replace the Bible! It builds upon the truths that are in it! I love it and I invite you to read it and find out for yourself that it is true. I found this challenge and I want to share it. The Challenge The "Book of Mormon" makes to the world If

Baggage?

Can we let go of what people have said to us or what we do to our self's and let go and let Christ help us?  " Without God, repentance would have little meaning, and  forgiveness  would be both unnecessary and unreal. If there were no God, life would indeed be meaningless; … we might find justification in an urge to live only for today, to ‘eat, drink and be merry,’ to dissipate, to satisfy every worldly desire. If there were no God there would be no redemption, no resurrection, no eternities to anticipate, and consequently no hope.” -Spencer W. Kimball

Spiritual Crocodiles!

Here is a story from Boyd K Packer's life. We stopped at a water hole to watch the animals come to drink. It was very dry that season and there was not much water, really just muddy spots. When the elephants stepped into the soft mud the water would seep into the depression and the animals would drink from the elephant tracks. The antelope, particularly, were very nervous. They would approach the mud hole, only to turn and run away in great fright. I could see there were no lions about and asked the guide why they didn't drink. His answer, and this is the lesson, was “Crocodiles.” I knew he must be joking and asked him seriously, “What is the problem?” The answer again: “Crocodiles.” “Nonsense,” I said. “There are no crocodiles out there. Anyone can see that.” I thought he was having some fun at the expense of his foreign game expert, and finally I asked him to tell us the truth. Now I remind you that I was not uninformed. I had read many books. Besides, anyone would

Missionary Work

The Lord has declared that missionary work is the responsibility of all who follow Him ! "Every member a missionary!" -David O. McKay "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."  ( Matthew 28:19-20 ) You cannot convert people beyond your own conversion! "What does the Atonement have to do with missionary work? Any time we experience the blessings of the Atonement in our lives, we cannot help but have a concern for the welfare of others....A great indicator of one's personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others."-Howard W. Hunter Lets all do a little better and don't judge someone as not interested invite them if you don't you are taking away their agency! Even if they don't say yes you still are giving

Judge Not

This is a talk I did a while back and I had an impression to put it up. Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. ( John 7:24 ) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is you reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. ( Matthew 5:11-12 ) Why do we judge others? Ok some reasons I think are It is easier to criticize than to be constructive "The church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thought, or have perfect feelings. The church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father."-Joseph B. Wirthlin PEOPLE ARE NOT PERFECT ! they are sometimes annoying, disappointing, inconsiderate, and selfish, and they DO make mist

Duty To God

"Decisions determine destiny"-Thomas S Monson "The Scout, in his promise, undertakes to do his duty to his king and country only in the second place; his first duty is to God. There is a higher mission before us, namely the promotion of the Kingdom of God; That is, the rule of Peace and Goodwill on earth."-Robert Baden-Powell " Duty to God - means a lot more than saying a prayer every time you need a favor. A lot more. Duty to God is simply that voluntary gesture you must make and remake a million times in your lifetime as a statement of your recognition that there is someone above this universe who watches over this universe and to whom each of us is a favorite son."-Jimmy Stewart "Believe in anything you want to believe in, but keep God at the top of it. With Him, life can be a beautiful experience. Without Him, you're just biding time."-John Wayne Yes this is for men but you know what us woman have a Duty to God too. ALL HUMAN

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

"If you hear a voice within you say, "you cannot paint," then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced."- Vincent Van Gogh "As long as we are willing to rise up again and continue on the path, ... we can learn something from failure and become better and happier."- Dieter F. Uchtdorf We all have times when we fall physically or spiritually and we either can't get up or don't feel like we can. We need to remember that we can always get up we just might need a little encouraging. Just like Dieter F. Uchtdorf says, "Even when we think we cannot rise up, there is still hope. And sometimes we just need someone to look us in the eyes, take our hand and say, "You can do it now!" We all have feelings of guilt, depression, and failure. No one likes to fail. But our mortal life is a test! Our Heavenly Father loves us so much and because he loves us He shows us where we can find the answers. "When we stray-when we fall or

Lost (a poem)

Everyone has feelings of loneliness and such. But how to over come them? Through the light of Christ can we become found again. This is a poem I wrote about such feelings. I have feelings of loneliness that I can't break The chains are on me and darkness around me. I have gotten myself in a bind and don't know how to get out. I feel lost and don't know what to do. I am on my knees with streams of tears that flow down my face. I hear a dark sound of laughter that echos through my head. I feel as if I've lost the light. I begin to stand with some flicker of Hope. I stomp my feet wanting to be let out, I feel a soft touch that I didn't notice before A hand is reaching for me, I see it now. I stretch forth with all my might. I am blinded by the light but now I know I haven't become part of the night. I see a loving face with tear stained eyes I want to know how my knight in so much pain could save a wretched soul like mine.

Enduring

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. -T. S. Eliot This quote means to me is that when you push yourself to the limit you think you will break is when you will find that you can go further than you think you could. Push yourself a little bit and when you do you can endure things that you never thought you could. So "Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up." Jesse Jackson Help everyone endure to the end and "they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb." 1 Nephi 13:37

Gratitude

I am sorry it has been a little bit since I have posted. But I want to express my gratitude to the people around me and to my Heavenly Father. First the meaning of gratitude: Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation and thankfulness for blessings or benefits we have received. As we cultivate a grateful attitude, we are more likely to be happy and spiritually strong. We should regularly express our gratitude to God for the blessings He gives us and to others for the kind acts they do for us. So many people while I have been on my mission have supported me and helped me in so many ways. Yesterday a family gave us so much food that we needed and they were inspired to give it. We were reluctant but they wouldn't let us leave without it. I am so thankful for them. I want to forever have an attitude of Gratitude. I am so thankful for my family and friends who are supporting me. I am so thankful for the Lord and all the blessings he gives me and the people who help and support me. I a

General Conference Saturday Morning session

These are some of my favorite quotes from the first session. If you haven't gotten to watch it yet I would strongly encourage you too! "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith. We must never allow doubt to hold us prisoner and keep us from the divine love, peace and gifts that come through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. "-Dieter F. Uchtdorf  "Never look back. Look forward at what we still have to do."-Edward Dube "In the service of the Lord it is not where you serve, but how."-Edward Dube "Windows allow natural light to enter into a building. In like manner spiritual illumination and perspective are poured out through the windows of heaven and into our lives as we honor the law of tithing."-David A Bednar "God will keep his promises to you as you honor your covenants with him."-Carole M. Stephens "I promise you in his name, that if you pray with sincere desire to hear your Father's voice in the messages o

Remember (a poem)

This poem I wrote was inspired about some feelings I had about how could you miss someone you don't remember? I was told that I once walked with the Savior Through meadows and streams. I have been told of His infinite love That love he has for me. But I don't remember holding His hand or seeing His face. How can you miss someone you don't remember? It is through faith and feelings of love that engulf me that I know. I did once see His loving face and feel His warm caring embrace. That is how you miss someone that you can't remember.

Mercy's Hand (a poem)

This is a poem by a dear friend of mine Shanna Hugie she wrote it in the Book of Mormon Gallery-LDS conference Center His face was on the ground. Sin's dust down in his lungs. He hadn't seen a sunrise Since he became undone. His choices took him far Down a road of grime. Still...he could there remember A peaceful other time... Was it just fake memory When he had seen his Father's face Or...did it really happen Another time...another place Was it far too late For him to find the way Or, did he see there waiting Two beings on that day. He looked and saw the hand Of mercy reaching out With justice by her side Still...he was full of doubt. Then...he heard a prompting "My son...you can come home. Just reach toward my justice And mercy will be shown."

You are a daughter of GOD!

You are a important daughter of God don't you EVER  forget that!

Diligence

Diligence is steady, consistent, earnest, and energetic effort in doing the Lord's work. Don't wait for your leaders to tell you what to do. Continue until you have done all you can, even when you are tired. "I have often said one of the greatest secrets of missionary work is work! If a missionary works, he will get the Spirit; if he gets the Spirit, he will teach by the Spirit; and if he teaches by the Spirit, he will touch the hearts of the people and he will be happy. There will be no homesickness, no worrying about families, for all time and talents and interests are centered of the work of the ministry. Work, work, work!-there is no satisfactory substitute, especially in missionary work."- Ezra Taft Benson What does it mean to be diligent? Conquering the enemy of all righteousness! We all know who that is! (hint: Satan) learn your duty and serve with all your heart! Don't work your self to death but still work hard :) Why does the Lord expect you to

Random Church fact of the day

Ezra Taft Benson had an unusual opportunity to be an example of gospel living. In 1952, with the encouragement of President David O. McKay, he accepted an appointment as the Secretary of Agriculture under Dwight D. Eisenhower, president of the United States. This was the only time in the history of the Church that a member of the Quorum of the Twelve served in a United States president's cabinet. Our Heritage a brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .

Humility

Humility is willingness to submit to the will of the Lord and to give the Lord the honor for what is accomplished. It includes gratitude for His blessings and acknowledgment of your constant need for His divine help. Humility is not a sign of weakness! It is a sign of spiritual strength. The opposite of humility is pride! What does it mean to be humble? To be teachable, knowing that Heavenly Father knows best, always remember the greatness of God, and praising God in all things. Those are some things that I think it means to be humble. What blessings do you receive when you humble yourself? Wisdom, mercy, enduring to the end, being saved, your weaknesses become strengths, God shall lead you, your ears and eyes shall be open to things. These are the blessings I have seen in my life. But believe me I still need some work to do. As does everyone :) How can you recognize pride in yourself? When we don't want to pray. So here is a quote that explains that "If we don't

Random Church fact of the day

In 1979 a new English-language edition of the King James Bible was published, the text was unchanged, but footnotes were added that cross-referenced the Bible with the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. A large Topical Guide and Bible Dictionary provided insights unique to modern-day scriptures. This new addition had new headings for all chapters. In 1981 new editions of the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pear of Great Price were also published. These included the new system of footnotes, new chapter and section headings, maps, and an index. Our Heritage A Brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Patience a Christ-like Attribute

Patience is the capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or anxious. It is the ability to do God's will and accept His timing. When you are patient, you hold up under pressure and are able to face adversity calmly and hopefully. "Life is full of difficulties, some minor and others of a more serious nature. There seems to be an unending supply of challenges for one and all. Our problem is that we often expect instantaneous solutions to such challenges, forgetting that frequently the heavenly virtue of patience is required." -Thomas S. Monson Tribulations to Patience to Experience to Hope (Romans 5:3-5) Why is patience important? For me it is important because I need patience in my everyday experiences with all people, and myself as I work to overcome faults and weaknesses of my own.
