Called to serve

12. The officers must be called of God. Called of God To be called of God is to receive an appointment or invitation from him or his duly authorized Church leaders to serve him in a particular way. Being called of God also goes with one of the Articles of Faith , "We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof." I have been called to serve as well. Here is a song that explains a lot of what we do :) Called to Serve , "Called to serve Him, heav'nly King of glory, Chosen e'er to witness for his name, Far and wide we tell the Father's story, Far and wide his love proclaim." I am happily serving my Heavenly Father and telling people of the Utah Ogden mission that He loves them and wants the very best for them! Mark 3:14 Matthew 10:1 Hebrews 5:4 Numbers 27:18-23 Exodus 28:1 John 15:16 Exodus 40:13-16

In the image of God

The True Church teach that God and Jesus Christ have bodies of flesh and bones. Body The mortal, physical structure of flesh and bones created in God’s image that is combined with a spirit to make up a living person. The physical bodies of all men and women will be reunited eternally with their spirits in the resurrection. The scriptures sometimes refer to a body and spirit joined together as a soul. We all have bodies of flesh and bone. They are a gift given to us in the likeness of God's image! We are children of a living Heavenly Father. James 3:9 Luke 24:36-39 Acts 1:9-11 Numbers 12:5-8 Exodus 33:11 Genesis 1:26-27 Gen 32:23-30

The 10th Marvelous Truth

The true church must teach that God and Christ are separate and distinct individuals. This goes with the Church's First article of Faith, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." They are 3 separate beings God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. These three beings make up the Godhead . They preside over this world and all other creations of our Father in Heaven. The Mormon view of the members of the Godhead corresponds in a number of ways with the views of others in the Christian world, but with significant differences. Latter-day Saints pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. They acknowledge the Father as the ultimate object of their worship, the Son as Lord and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit as the messenger and revealer of the Father and the Son. But where Latter-day Saints differ from other Christian religions is in their belief that God and Jesus Christ are glorified, phys...

Number 9 of 17 points of the True Church

Today's point for the Seventeen points of the True Church is an interesting one. 9. The true church must practice divine healing. This is a great talk done by Dallin H Oaks about Healing the Sick He says in one of the points this, "A recent nationwide survey found that nearly 8 in 10 Americans "believe that miracles still occur today as [they did] in ancient times." A third of those surveyed said they had "experienced or witnessed a divine healing." Many Latter-day Saints have experienced the power of faith in healing the sick. We also hear examples of this among people of faith in other churches. A Texas newspaperman described such a miracle. When a five-year-old girl breathed with difficulty and became feverish, her parents rushed her to the hospital. By the time she arrived there, her kidneys and lungs had shut down, her fever was 107 degrees, and her body was bright red and covered with purple lesions. The doctors said she was dying of toxic shock...

A splendid gift that the true church gives!

Almost done with the segment of Does it meet the Test! But it has been interesting looking into what the true church should have and proud that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meets all of these requirements.  8. True church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. First thing that pops into my mind is what does the word bestow mean? so this is what Google gave me confer or present (an honor, right, or gift) I think that is a perfect definition for the word bestow because it means to present someone with something and when we are given the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands it really is a gift! Just without the wrapping and bow ;) Acts 8:14-17  Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ then given the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands Acts 9:17-18 Acts 2:38  gift of the Holy Ghost 2 Timothy 1:6-10

What does the true church have?

The true Church must baptize by immersion. What does immersion mean? I typed it into Google and came up with this:  the action of immersing someone or something in a liquid. So baptism by immersion is dipping someone until they are covered completely by water in this case. Ephesians 4:5  One baptism Matthew 3:13-16  Christ being baptized Matthew 3:6  confessing their sins Mark 1:9-11  Christ being baptized John 3:3-6  being born of the Spirit which means being baptized Acts 8:36-39  Believing and then acting on that belief Romans 6:3-5  when we are baptized we are doing away with our old life and starting a new so the burial of our sins and old life and starting clean Baptism is essential to enter the Kingdom of God.

How do you know it meets the test?

Part 6 sorry we aren't halfway there. But we have lots more interesting things to go over :) 6. The true church must have no paid ministry. NO PAID MINISTER!!!!!!!!!!! You've got that right! All the ministers and teachers we have AREN'T paid. Micah 3:11 Luke 22:35-36  lack ye anything? NOTHING! 1 Corinthians 9:18  Preach the Gospel without charge John 10:12-13  when someone is hired they don't care too much about the people sadly 1 Timothy 3:3  Patient, not covetous, and not a fighter Isaiah 45:13 1 Peter 5:2  provide spiritual food for the people I know that all the Teachers and Preachers that we have in this church do it out of love for the people they serve! I know because I have done it myself. I love the people I have served so far and right now I am serving still! I will most likely serve others for the rest of my life and I will do it with a smile on my face!

Meet the test? Does it meet the test!

Ok I am being a bit more creative with my titles :) 5. The true church must claim Divine Authority! Ok so what is Divine Authority? It is the Priesthood which that means the Powers of Heaven or the authority from God to act in His name Hebrews 5:4-10   Melchizedek Priesthood 1 Timothy 2:7  ordained a preacher Acts 14:2 Acts 6:5-6  the laying on of hands Acts 19:1-6  the laying on of hands to receive the Holy Ghost There is a talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland called Our Most Distinguishing Feature  and that feature is the Priesthood. Elder David A. Bednar said, "The priesthood is the authority of God delegated to men on the earth to act in all things for the salvation of mankind. Priesthood is the means whereby the Lord acts through men to save souls. One of the defining features of the Church of Jesus Christ, both anciently and today, is His authority. There can be no true Church without divine authority." The Priesthood is on the earth today and ...
